Elbert (Bert) Shore, graduated from Western Maryland College (1967) with a B.A. He earned his law degree from the University of Maryland (1970) After a brief tenure as an aid to U.S. Senator Joseph D. Tydings (D-Md), where he worked in drafting a bill for the creation of Amtrak, he entered the U.S. Army in 1971, serving as Captain with the Judge Advocate General, 1st Cavalry Division. After discharge in 1974, he practiced with the Rockville law firm of Bell, Cornelius and Shore until 1996. He was admitted to the Md. Bar in 1970, and the D.C. Bar in 1978. Mr. Shore's primary practice was the litigation of complex commercial and tort cases. Since forming the Shore Law Firm in 1996, Mr. Shore has concentrated primarily in family law, personal injury, and in medical malpractice. In 1999 he received an award from the Montgomery County Dept. of Education for outstanding volunteer work. Mr. Shore is a member of the Christian Legal Society, the Partnership for Women and Families, and the NAACP. Mr. Shore has appeared on radio to discuss the history of the civil rights movement, and has helped to organize race unity dialogues pursuant to President Clinton's initiative in 1996. He has also created consumer information websites to enable people to represent themselves in court, if necessary, to bring legal actions against abusive telemarketers and to rescind necessary sales contracts because of the purchase of auto lemons. In his free time, Bert formed the Magruder Ice Hockey Club, enjoys coaching, and has been active in his Church School. He is married with one son. |
